Being There, for me, is probably
the earliest memory I have of finding out about my grandad. Funnily enough, it was on TV,
and my dad sat me down to watch it and he explained to me
who my grandad was and that we were about to see him. And come to the end of the film, Chance is walking onto the water and he keeps on walking and
eventually he just disappears off. This is my grandad,
the first time I've seen him, and at the end of it, he disappears
and he's left me already. And I was inconsolable.
I couldn't stop crying. I didn't know what to do. My dad had to calm me down.
It was horrible. I was just genuinely really sad
about the whole thing. Then, maybe without knowing it, this is the first time I realised
that I can see and hear my grandad, but I'm never going to know him. I'm never going to know
