Evan: My dad said,
"Come stay with me." And I thought,
"Great," you know, "My dad can't say
anything about my life because he hasn't really been
involved in it since I was nine." My dad was turning over
a new leaf at this point. He'd gotten remarried. He'd sort of gotten back
into some kind of religion, and it was like the first time
I felt safe to talk to my dad. So, I went and I stayed with
him, and it was just nice. The house was warm,
there was music playing. There was always people there, there was always
food on the table. It was just, like, cozy
and nice, and it felt safe. For me, it was like, "Okay, I'm gonna
let you do this because you owe me." (chuckles) And I think
my dad felt like, "This is my chance to step
up and take care of you in a way that I maybe
should've before."
