I went to the hardware store. I bought a shovel,
pair of gloves, a machete, trash bags... a new set of clothing and
boots. I went back to the park.
It was dark. I left Jane in the car and went
down to look around in the
park. There's only one trail
that goes upstream of the
river. I walked for a good ten minutes and the vegetation got thicker
and trees got taller. I had a moment of doubt
of my own ability to carry the weight uphill. [crickets chirping]
