Velma Wall: Do you seriously think Billy Flynn is going to waste his time on every two-bit scuffle that gets into the papers?
Roxie Hart: Two-bit scuffle? 8 pictures and 9 columns in 2 days. I guess that ain't that the bee's knees.
Velma Wall: My dear, dear. Do you realize that during my first week here I have a total of 15 pictures, 27 1/2 columns, and an editorial denouncing me?
Roxie Hart: Please, you're so awful it's all I can do to keep my mind on you.
Mrs. Morton: Children!
Velma Wall: To hear you talk you'd think you are the queen of the jail. Well, permit me to remind you, Miss Sloppy, your whole case is a very low-class affair, whereas mine, friend, was in the social register.
Roxie Hart: On a pass?
Velma Wall: In my opinion, Mrs. Hart, you're a very ordinary bum and you might as well face it.
Roxie Hart: Bum? I'll bum you.
[They engage in a huge catfight]
Mrs. Morton: Children, you girls have got to stop this squabbling.
[She stops the slugfest, grabs both Roxie and Velma, knocks their heads together and they both collapse out cold, then Mama Morton back to her newspaper]
Mrs. Morton: Let's see, where was I?
