that forced them to include us. ALISA: I'm headed to Kentucky
to meet Crystal Wilkinson, a woman who's putting Black people
back into the Appalachian stories with words and food. Crystal grew up on a tobacco farm
in the Appalachian foothills and today she is
the poet laureate of Kentucky. Much of her work is inspired by
the rituals and traditions she absorbed in the Black Appalachian kitchens
of her childhood. ♪ Savor the taste
of the fruits of my labor ♪ ♪ You may not be able
