can require special care... There's always
quite a lot of pressure when they come into the studio because of their high value
and importance. ..and curators are always keen
to put them on show. Our primary concern always is to
think about how can we display them in a way that brings them to life
for our audiences, but also make sure that we preserve them
for the future. In textiles conservation, a rare survival from 200 years ago
has just arrived. You can see,
it's just really beautiful. Anna needs to check
that this precious kimono is in good enough condition to be displayed

In the museum's workshops,
00:00:03.064 --> 00:00:07.048
unique objects
can require special care...
00:00:09.000 --> 00:00:10.008
There's always
quite a lot of pressure
00:00:10.008 --> 00:00:12.006
when they come into the studio
00:00:12.006 --> 00:00:16.044
because of their high value
and importance.
00:00:17.084 --> 00:00:21.032
..and curators are always keen
to put them on show.
00:00:23.000 --> 00:00:27.036
Our primary concern always is to
think about how can we display them
00:00:27.036 --> 00:00:30.044
in a way that brings them to life
for our audiences,
00:00:30.044 --> 00:00:31.068
but also make sure
00:00:31.068 --> 00:00:33.096
that we preserve them
for the future.
00:00:33.096 --> 00:00:36.068
In textiles conservation,
00:00:36.068 --> 00:00:41.999
a rare survival from 200 years ago
has just arrived.
00:00:41.999 --> 00:00:43.004
You can see,
it's just really beautiful.
00:00:43.004 --> 00:00:45.092
Anna needs to check
that this precious kimono
00:00:45.092 --> 00:00:47.008
is in good enough condition
00:00:47.008 --> 00:00:50.024
to be displayed
in a forthcoming exhibition.
00:00:52.006 --> 00:00:54.006
This is a really,
really special garment
00:00:54.006 --> 00:00:59.028
because we have
no pre-20th-century men's kimono,
00:00:59.028 --> 00:01:00.052
until we got this.
