The objects that we're dealing
with, because of their long history, of course, have had various
different traumas or experiences. New keeper James is checking
a particularly delicate jewel that's captured the light with
gentle movement for over a century. That is amazing. It's so fragile. But it's been adapted and altered
so many times in its history that it's now especially delicate. It's a very scary thing to move
because of all the different components of it... ..because the settings are not
as durable as the stones and they can occasionally
come loose. We might do some consolidation work
around them but generally what we're trying
to do the whole time is making sure that nothing gets broken or damaged
