While Allen prepares the wall, conservator Yuki has discovered
that a fragment of the frame has broken off. It has to be fixed before
the big move. The frame may look like wood,
but it's less solid than it seems. This frame is old and fragile,
and also the material, this is called compo. Compo, or composition,
is a material made from chalk, animal glue and linseed oil. When wet, it's easily moulded
into intricate shapes. But decades after drying out,
it requires the lightest of touches
