behind the wheel, his first appearance
in competition at Le Mans and with only ten practice laps
under his belt. A.J. Foyt, the rookie
everyone was worrying about, has charged into a seven-lap lead. Fifteen cars have already dropped out trying to keep up
with the bright red Ford. Ford was ecstatic
about the MKIV's performance, but they kept a watchful eye on Shelby. Mr. Ford had his sergeants with him, but they would come through
every two or three hours and that happened all night long
