Foyt how fast the car would go, and Foyt did a fabulous job
in driving within his limits, realizing that 24 hours is a long time, taking care of the engine,
taking care of the gearbox. Ford went on to win
the 24 Hours of Le Mans again in 1968. And again in 1969. Only two makes ever won Le Mans
in the 1960s. Ferrari won the first half. Ford won the second half. In 1968 and 1969, the GT40 won Le Mans without any factory support
from Ford or Carroll Shelby
