I was frustrated by what seemed to be
the insurmountable barriers between the world as it is
and the world I wanted. So, I began making a website where people
could buy and sell anything anonymously. I built it because I think
the pursuit of freedom is the most
noble human endeavor. I knew the state might try
to impede it, but if we never try
for fear of retribution, we have already lost,
you know? Silk Road is about
something much bigger than thumbing your nose
at the man. It's about taking back
our liberty. And as corny as it sounds,
I just wanna look back at my life and know that I did something
