was Captain America. From the very beginning,
we were very much affected by what was going on
in the world around us. Joe Simon and Jack Kirby
were doing stories of Captain America battling Hitler and the Nazis even before America
had gotten into the war. Captain America came from the need
for a patriotic character because the times at that time
were in a patriotic stir. The war was coming on
and the war clouds were gathering and so Captain America
had to come into existence
