When I started doing comics, I figured I would just do them
for a little while and get some experience and I thought
one day I'll be a big time writer and maybe I'll write
the Great American Novel. I always, in the back of my mind,
liked comics, but I never considered that real writing. I said, "I'm not going to use my name
for these silly comics." And I thought, "I need a pen name."
