Himself - Narrator:
In the end I was left with the same question with which I began this journey: Why did so many strangers weep for Steve Jobs? It is just simple to say it was because he gave us products we love, without asking why we love them the way we do. It is too simple even to conclude that we love them because they connect us to a wider world and the people in our lives that are far away. Because these machines isolate us too. Perhaps the contradictory nature of our experience with these gadgets, narrates the contradictions of Jobs himself: He was an artist who sought perfection, but could never found peace. He had the focus of a monk, but none of the empathy. He offered us freedom, but only within his closed garden to which he held the key

In the end I was left with the same question
00:00:03.753 --> 00:00:05.289
with which I began this journey
00:00:05.421 --> 00:00:09.961
Why did so many strangers weep for Steve Jobs
00:00:10.001 --> 00:00:13.381
It's too simple to say it was because he gave us products we love
00:00:13.554 --> 00:00:17.423
without asking why we love them the way we do
00:00:17.006 --> 00:00:19.808
It's too simple even to conclude that we love them
00:00:19.977 --> 00:00:22.001
because they connect us to a wider world
00:00:22.229 --> 00:00:25.347
and the people in our lives that are far away
00:00:25.524 --> 00:00:28.858
because these machines isolate us too
00:00:31.447 --> 00:00:35.316
Perhaps the contradictory nature of our experience with these gadgets
00:00:35.451 --> 00:00:38.999
mirrors the contradictions in Jobs himself

He had the focus of a monk but none of the empathy
00:00:52.843 --> 00:00:56.553
He offered us freedom but only within a closed garden
00:00:56.068 --> 00:00:58.797
to which he held the key
