It was an incredibly exciting moment. It was beyond my wild dreams. Yeah, so, um, what we've got here is what has become known
as a Keeling flask. This is a low-tech way
of getting an air sample. But… our excitement was short-lived. The conditions
at Baring Head are pretty extreme. It's a very, very windy place. I worked day and night. Quite often you'd wind up
having to sleep out there. We were exhausted. There was nothing left in us
when we got back to the house. And this was not great news
for my marriage with Rosemary. She made it clear to me
that it was all over. And I was absolutely devastated. I just had nothing left in me
as a Keeling flask. This is a low-tech way
