Okay, the fire. I got up in the morning and I thought I smelled
a wood-burning fireplace. I went upstairs
and there was no fireplace going. And I still smelled burning. So, I went up to the room
on the fourth floor, where two kids have been working restoring
furniture for Jed's decorating business. I opened the door. There was a drop cloth all over the room with a big burn hole
about ten inches across in it. There were open cans of turpentine around. The windows were closed, and the heat was on. My biggest fear had happened. I mean, it was like The Exorcist
