And it's forgotten about, and yet it wasn't until the Battle of the Atlantic was won in May 1943 we could properly start planning because if you want to plan really serious invasions like Sicily or Southern Italy, or indeed Overlord going into Normandy, for example, on D-Day, you really need to know that 98% of your supplies are gonna get through otherwise that just cocks the whole thing up
