This plane is manned by 10 aircrew, a mixture of officers and NCOs, a pilot, a co-pilot, a navigator, an engineer, numerous gunners, tail gunner, a ball turret gunner, mid-upper gunner, all manning up to 13 machine guns depending on the version you've got, flying in massive formation in what's called a combat box formation where they mutually support each other with those machine guns and take on whatever's thrown at them
