What one has to understand is that Germany is set up and always has been set up, and Prussia, before it became Germany in 1871, was, because it's so resource-poor, because it doesn't have access to the world's oceans, because it's right in the heart of continental Europe it has to win its wars completely and very quickly because the moment it gets caught up in long, drawn-out, attritional war, it's going to lose because it's going to lose that battle of resources
