Elinor Glyn:
[in the car leaving the dock in San Diego]
I am not here. [pause] Elinor Glyn:
Like others with tiny bullets hidden in their skulls, Thomas Ince held on unconscious for 2 days before dying in his own bed. There was plenty of misinformation in the days following his death, much of it coming from the Hearst press machine. Which inexplicably reported that Ince was stricken unconscious while visiting Hearst at his upstate ranch. Three weeks later The San Diego district attorney conducted an obligatory investigation, and was quote: "Satisfied that the death of Thomas H. Ince was caused by heart failure as a result of acute indigestion." He did not examine the body because Ince had been cremated immediately, and except for Dr. Goodman, no member of the boating party was ever questioned, including Hearst. The San Diego D.A. decided that the Los Angeles office continue the investigation, they politely declined. [Charlie goes to Marion]

I am not here
00:00:02.919 --> 00:00:04.212
Ma'am
00:00:05.296 --> 00:00:08.799
Like others with tiny bullets hiding in their skulls
00:00:08.008 --> 00:00:11.511
Thomas Ince held on unconscious for two days
00:00:11.594 --> 00:00:14.597
before dying in his own bed
00:00:14.681 --> 00:00:17.892
There was plenty of misinformation in the days following his death
00:00:18.999 --> 00:00:20.812
much of it coming straight from the Hearst press machine
00:00:20.895 --> 00:00:25.019
which inexplicably reported that Ince was stricken unconscious
00:00:25.191 --> 00:00:28.402
while visiting Hearst at his upstate ranch
00:00:28.403 --> 00:00:31.197
Three weeks later the San Diego District Attorney
00:00:31.281 --> 00:00:35.118
conducted an obligatory investigation and was
00:00:35.201 --> 00:00:38.412
satisfied that the death of Thomas H Ince
00:00:38.413 --> 00:00:42.499
was caused by heart failure as a result of acute indigestion
00:00:42.005 --> 00:00:46.796
He did not examine the body because Ince had been cremated immediately
00:00:46.921 --> 00:00:48.059
and except for Dr Goodman
00:00:48.715 --> 00:00:51.027
no member of the boating party was ever questioned
00:00:51.003 --> 00:00:53.219
including Hearst
00:00:53.303 --> 00:00:55.388
The San Diego DA suggested
00:00:55.513 --> 00:00:58.515
that the Los Angeles office continue the investigation
00:00:58.516 --> 00:01:00.894
They politely declined
