The Little Mermaid: Father, sisters, look what I found. He came from the world above! Isn't he beautiful?
Father Neptune: Yes, and so young. It's a pity to die when one is so young.
The Little Mermaid: Die? What is die? Isn't he just asleep?
Father Neptune: I'm sorry, my child, but the young boy from the world above has drowned. He will not sleep, or smile, or swim with you. He cannot. That is to be dead, my daughter.
The Little Mermaid's sister: Dead? Forever dead.
Father Neptune: However, my children, human beings have an immortal soul that lives forever. Which lives after the body has turned to dust. It rises up through limpid air, through the clouds up to the shining stars. Just as we rise out of the water see the shores of the Earth. So do they rise to unknown beautiful regions, which we shall never see
