Sunday, March 7th. For quite some time
I've been swimming upstream against a feeling of depression
and relative inertia. Lyndon, too, lives in a cloud of troubles with few rays of light. Now it is the Selma situation. Six hundred or so Negroes who marched made little headway toward the state capital
some 15 miles to the east. They barely left Selma. They marched in through the city of Selma
and were not stopped, but once they crossed
over the Edmund Pettus Bridge, it was a different story. You've got
two minutes to turn around and go back to your church

For quite some time
I've been swimming upstream
00:00:05.505 --> 00:00:09.342
against a feeling of depression
and relative inertia.
00:00:09.342 --> 00:00:11.719
Lyndon, too, lives in a cloud
00:00:11.719 --> 00:00:14.389
of troubles with few rays of light.
00:00:14.889 --> 00:00:16.599
Now it is the Selma situation.
00:00:17.975 --> 00:00:19.519
Six hundred or so Negroes
00:00:19.519 --> 00:00:21.437
who marched made little headway
00:00:21.437 --> 00:00:24.565
toward the state capital
some 15 miles to the east.
00:00:24.565 --> 00:00:26.609
They barely left Selma.
00:00:26.609 --> 00:00:29.278
They marched in through the city of Selma
and were not stopped,
00:00:29.278 --> 00:00:33.116
but once they crossed
over the Edmund Pettus Bridge,
00:00:33.116 --> 00:00:34.909
it was a different story.
00:00:34.909 --> 00:00:37.087
You've got
two minutes to turn around
00:00:37.087 --> 00:00:39.414
and go back to your church.
