Out of the blue, the incident room
received a phone call to say that Hughes had turned up
at Battersea Police Station, said that people were looking
for him and obviously the police officers at Battersea
were aware that he could be armed, so they'd left him
in the front counter, on the public side, phoned us and said,
"Your man is here, sitting, "waiting for the police to arrive." Walked in and said, "I understand the police want
to speak to me." So, I thought, "That's very good."
So, "OK, is he in custody?" And they said,
"Well, not exactly, no
