Filming in Royal Ave clearly had a very
personal effect on Losey, in spite of being ill for a
fair amount of the filming. In 1966, the director effectively
moved into his film, living here, at the house directly opposite
Tony's, in fact, where he lived until 1984, when he
passed away at the age of 75. As you can see today, a blue plaque
commemorates Losey's time in the Square. It's perhaps also a subtle commemoration of the Square's use in one of
