[MAN SPEAKING INDISTINCTLY] [SCARLIN HERNANDEZ]
This is my first deployment. I feel nervous. Especially with this mission.
It can't be serviced, right? {\an8}So any problems that arise,
any challenges, {\an8}we have to take them head-on. There are hundreds of us working, uh, in the Mission Operations Center
around the clock, especially the flight operations team. We're able to communicate
with the telescope via this Mission Operations Center. We send commands to the telescope,
or blocks of code, to tell it what to do,
what activity to perform. We can't actually see
the telescope in space, it's too far, so we have a tool
that's an animated model of the telescope, where we can see the telescope unfolding

[MAN SPEAKING INDISTINCTLY]
00:00:03.461 --> 00:00:05.379
[SCARLIN HERNANDEZ]
This is my first deployment.
00:00:05.463 --> 00:00:06.547
I feel nervous.
00:00:07.548 --> 00:00:11.052
Especially with this mission.
It can't be serviced, right?
00:00:11.135 --> 00:00:13.679
{\an8}So any problems that arise,
any challenges,
00:00:13.763 --> 00:00:15.181
{\an8}we have to take them head-on.
00:00:15.973 --> 00:00:17.892
There are hundreds of us working, uh,
00:00:17.975 --> 00:00:20.895
in the Mission Operations Center
around the clock,
00:00:20.978 --> 00:00:23.647
especially the flight operations team.
00:00:25.274 --> 00:00:27.061
We're able to communicate
with the telescope
00:00:27.693 --> 00:00:29.612
via this Mission Operations Center.
00:00:30.529 --> 00:00:33.991
We send commands to the telescope,
or blocks of code,
00:00:34.003 --> 00:00:36.786
to tell it what to do,
what activity to perform.
00:00:37.578 --> 00:00:41.999
We can't actually see
the telescope in space, it's too far,
00:00:41.123 --> 00:00:44.794
so we have a tool
that's an animated model of the telescope,
00:00:44.877 --> 00:00:47.063
where we can see the telescope unfolding.
