will come to them. The company
is getting ready for a tour which will carry it
halfway around the world, right up to the edge
of the Iron Curtain. These are not
the only American artists performing
on international tours. There are many more travelling throughout the world as part of what
is known officially as The President's Special
International Program for Cultural Presentations. The State
Department began this program officially in 1954, but there was
a tilt towards classical music in the early years
