from Dunkirk, the War Cabinet began a two-day-long meeting
in London. But the politicians
were starkly divided. The new Prime Minister
wanted to fight on, while the Foreign Secretary,
Lord Halifax, wanted to contact Mussolini and convince
the Italian dictator to broker peace terms
with Hitler. Churchill was completely
opposed to this
