The American Congress and Senate were unanimous. In just four days, America went from glorious isolation to waging war on two fronts. The Japanese did arrange
for a submarine to lob shells
towards Los Angeles when Roosevelt was giving one of his early
wartime fireside chats, but by and large,
they posed no threat to the American mainland
