The Americans were not the only victims of the Japanese attacks. As the Japanese blitzed through Asia, they singled out the British in Singapore, sinking the HMS Repulse and the HMS Prince of Wales on which Churchill had crossed
the Atlantic to meet Roosevelt, resulting in 840 British casualties. Over the course of seven hours on 8th December, the Japanese launched simultaneous attacks on the British-held colonies of Malaya, Hong Kong, and Singapore. In one knock-out blow, the Japanese sought to cripple the Western Allies and gain total mastery over Southeast Asia. The issue that is absorbing
the Japanese government right from 1931 onwards is how to sort out
