Robert's plan uses steps and
levels to create what's known as broken plan rather than
open plan. If you fancy doing the same, check
for building regulations, then use materials cleverly to tie
the whole design together. So here, where we have a withdrawing
room, which is five steps up, that's 900mm. OK. That 900mm
is a layer which kind of continues across that entire
ground floor plan, so everything below 900mm is one material - everything
above 900 is the other, OK?
