So, Helen and Rob, your existing
house is a very conventional Victorian terraced house. As you can see, you can see
all the way down the plan. You can see from the back garden
through to the front street. It's your living space,
it's your dining space, but it's the main corridor from your
bedrooms through to the bathroom, which is no good. You know, when you're having to push
past the hob to get into the shower or to go the loo,
you know, that doesn't really work. Helen's preference for small rooms is in keeping with the original
layout of their house. So Laura is turning back the clock
to show them what the lounge behind could have first looked like
before open-plan living. So this is probably
how these Victorian terraces would have been decorated,
very dark. Victorians liked a very dark
kind of panelling... ..William Morris-style wallpaper

So, Helen and Rob, your existing
house is a very conventional
00:00:06.068 --> 00:00:09.024
Victorian terraced house.
00:00:09.024 --> 00:00:12.096
As you can see, you can see
all the way down the plan.
00:00:12.096 --> 00:00:16.002
You can see from the back garden
through to the front street.
00:00:16.002 --> 00:00:18.008
It's your living space,
it's your dining space,
00:00:18.008 --> 00:00:23.044
but it's the main corridor from your
bedrooms through to the bathroom,
00:00:23.044 --> 00:00:26.002
which is no good.
00:00:26.002 --> 00:00:30.012
You know, when you're having to push
past the hob to get into the shower
00:00:30.012 --> 00:00:33.008
or to go the loo,
you know, that doesn't really work.
00:00:33.008 --> 00:00:35.056
Helen's preference for small rooms
00:00:35.056 --> 00:00:38.076
is in keeping with the original
layout of their house.
00:00:38.076 --> 00:00:41.072
So Laura is turning back the clock
to show them what the lounge
00:00:41.072 --> 00:00:46.068
behind could have first looked like
before open-plan living.
00:00:46.068 --> 00:00:50.072
So this is probably
how these Victorian terraces
00:00:50.072 --> 00:00:53.032
would have been decorated,
very dark.
00:00:53.032 --> 00:00:56.006
Victorians liked a very dark
kind of panelling...
